About us
As a child already, Anna was dreaming of running a guest house.
This inspiration came from her grandmother, whose husband, the steward of a vast farm, was a horse breeder and a member of the National Council, had little time to explore the world with his wife.
Her grandmother decided to invite the world into her home, and set up a guest house on the grounds of the Klostergut Paradies convent in the canton of Schaffhausen.

Visitors came from all over the world, enriching his world.
Among them was an illustrious guest: Winston Churchill. So, in 2007, when Anna and Francis bought an apartment at No. 7 Rue St-Laurent and saw the old "Croix Fédérale" upstairs bistro in a state of disrepair beneath their windows, they decided to make Anna's dream come true: to create a bed & breakfast following in her grandmother's footsteps.
Francis was able to put his architectural talents to good use and oversee the project from start to finish.
Anna, for her part, played a major role in the choice of materials and furnishings.
Why " Le Coq Chantant " ?
Before and during World War II, Francis' grandparents ran "L'Auberge du Coq Chantant" in Frévent, Pas-de-Calais, France.
Unfortunately at the end of the World War in 1945, the hostel was partially destroyed by a bomb from the americans and was never rebuilt again.
Almost 70 years later, as Anna and Francis prepare to open their Bed & Breakfast in St-Livres, Francis tells the story of his grandparents' Hostel to Anna. They then decide to abandon the name they had chosen before and gave the name " Le Coq Chantant Bed and Breakfast" to their project.

Le Coq Chantant was inaugurated in August 2012 then became Le Coq Chantant Résidences in November 2023.
